Childreach International (CRI) is a unique child-centred international development organisation based in London, United Kingdom. CRI works in close partnership with community-based organisations in developing countries and helps them use innovative approaches for the development of the disadvantaged children.
The partnership
Smile Foundation entered into a strategic partnership with Childreach International in March 2009 to support child-focused welfare projects in India and other South Asian countries under the Mission Education programme. A total of six Mission Education projects of Smile foundation are already being supported by Childreach International. More than 1553 children are being imparted quality education and healthcare. The partners also aim to reduce the drop-out rate among children by 75 per cent and to promote girl child education/ increase enrolment of girl child in non-formal education centres/ formal schools etc.

Special Focus
Smile Foundation and Childreach International are collaboratively to raise resources across the globe and especially in UK for the empowerment of the underprivileged children in India and other South Asian countries. All Childreach International projects in South Asian countries will now be implemented by Smile Foundation.

Action for Autism, Delhi
Action for Autism [AFA] is the primary organisation in South Asia specialising in Autism Spectrum Disorders. A Verbal Behaviour Analysis [VBA] Unit has been set up at the National Centre at Jasola Vihar in Delhi, which provides special speech therapy to autistic children. The VBA section caters to about 21 children in the age group of 2 to 12yrs.
Jana Sewak Sangha, Orissa
Jana Sewak Sangha (JSS) is a registered non-profit organization which reaches out to underprivileged children in and around 5 villages (Kudasingha, Kuthurlla, Madhiapalli, Rinbachan & Pudapalli) of Bolangir district in the state of Orissa. This Remedial Education Project covers 1000 children (4 to 14years of age group), out of which 591 are girls and 409 are boys.
Amcha Ghar, Mumbai
The project empowers underprivileged girl children by providing them basic education and shelter. There are 32 girls in the age group of 3-18 yrs in the home.
NeeV, Gurgaon, National Capital Region
NeeV an offshoot of Bharat Memorial Charitable Trust educates the children living in slums of Gurgaon. The project supports non-informal education and healthcare of 100 underprivileged children (5-16yrs) residing in slums of Gurgaon. They are usually children of construction workers, domestic helps, washer-men, electrician, gardener, mason etc.
Schools Of The World, Kolkata
Schools Of The World provides education to 300 underprivileged children from poor, marginalized community of vendors, porters, sweepers, rickshaw pullers, daily laborers, hawkers etc.
Pre-school education is provided to about 170 children in the age group of 0-4 yrs. Remedial education is provided to 130 (70 girls & 60 boys) children beneficiaries from Class I to XII.
Amrapali Utkarsh Sangha, Nagpur
The Navin Bhai Desai residential school, an extension of Amrapali Utkarsh Sangha (AUS), Nagpur provides education to children of sex workers, quarry workers and migrant families from Orissa and Madhya Pradesh. Residential education facilities is provided to 100 children(60 boys 40 girls), between 6 to 12 years of age group. They are children of stone crushers and those belonging to marginalized communities like SC/ST. |
