brings home new livelihood models for its students from
NGO Connection Day
Smile Foundation participated
in the NGO Connection Day that aimed to explore new avenues
for livelihood for the underprivileged youth using IT as
a tool for better governance in India. It was organised
by Self Employed Women's Association (SEWA) in collaboration
with Microsoft on 15th and 16th of April 2010 in Jaipur
(Rajasthan).
Seventeen NGOs from different
parts of the country participated in the event. Eminent
personalities from various NGOs and corporate houses like
Rakesh Malhotra (Project Director RMoL),Rajendra Joshi (Managaing
Trustee, Ssaath Charitable Trust),Vikas Goswami (Lead CSR-Microsoft)
and KB Kothari(Trustee-Pratrham-Rajasthan) participated
in the panel discussion on different perceptions regarding
Information and communication technologies and its relevance
in our society.
Meghna Shah who is associated
with American India Foundation conducted a session on resource
mobilisation in the development sector. She also shared
some useful tips on drafting a proposal to donor agencies.Challenges
of enhancing IT skills among the unemployed underprivileged
youth was also discussed during the event.
