K K Varma

An Alumni of IIT, Kharagpur (Master in Regional Planning) with an M. Sc Degree in Statistics and training in Health and Family Welfare from Management Science for Health (MSH), Boston (USA), KKV has extensive experience in social research and programme management [Girl Child Education & Empowerment, Reproductive & Sexual Health, Family Planning etc.] for about 30 years now. Says he - 'A leader is at best first among the equals. He has been working with Govt. of India, United Nations and leading development agencies before joining Smile family.

KKV is a person full of life. He loves reading, writing and listening to music. And cracking jokes!

Indrani Roy

A Post Graduate from Jadavpur University, Kolkata has worked as a Deputy Director, Resource Mobilization, North in Help Age India for 22 years. Before joining Smile Team in Bangalore as National Director, she was working as a Director, South-East [Resource Development] in Global Cancer Concern India. Indrani has also launched Resource Generation Programmes in Northern Region, Southern Region and Eastern Region for GCCI.

Naresh holds an engineering degree in Electronic and Tele Communications from Pune University. He entered the world of NGOs in 1994 with a national charity advocating child education.

Naresh has an extensive experience, predominantly in the field of resource mobilization and brand building with a consistent exposure of project management, communications and administration. He has also worked with well known international groups striving for improved health and education system in India.

His last employment was with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) United States and being a Consultant for South Asia region, has devised strategies to educate the public and policy makers against animal abuse and secured sustainable support for PETA India.

He has a passion for exploring new places and loves soft music.

Anupama Puri Kalra

An MBA with specialization in marketing & Finance, Anupama is an ardent advocate of application of successful business principals and working to the Non Profit Sector. With Smile since its inception, she has been part of the development sector for almost 10 yrs. She has extensive experience in Project Management & Implementation, Social Marketing, Communication, reproductive & sexual health, micronutrient deficiency, adolescent issues, health management & education

Smita Kalappa

Smita has done her masters in English Literature from Bangalore University. She has worked with various national level organizations including HelpAge India in the last two decades of her career prior to joining Smile. She has excelled in the fields of Resource Generation, Training and Administration.

MEENA BATRA

A Post Graduate in Sociology, Meena has been in the development sector for almost a decade. She has expertise and specialization in Human Development and Family Studies, Social Marketing, Social Research and Advocacy, Programme Implementation and Monitoring. Advocacy and Women's Empowerment are what give her a high.

Meena is a focused person who loves to visit new places to be in the lap of Nature.

NIDHI AVASTHI

Nidhi has done her M. Sc. (Botany) from Kanpur University and a Degree in Education from Annamalai University. Having a decade long experience in teaching in various reputed educational institutions, the issues of education and children are close her heart.

Prior to joining Smile as the Regional Director (Northern Region), Nidhi was working with Global Cancer Concern India as Senior Deputy Director between 2000 and 2007. She was also affiliated to Helpage India as State-in-Charge for National Capital Region during 1993 and2000.

Nidhi is also passionate about dance, painting and cooking.

Prasanna Kumar has a long experience of 31 years in the field of Social Work. A Post Graduate from Andhra Pradesh, Prasanna started his career with the Leprosy Mission as a Non-Medical Supervisor. He has served in a number of national and international NGOs like German Leprosy Relief Association, Lepra India, CASP, PETA in various capacities.

Prasanna is an amateur painter, a trained photographer, an interior decorator by hobby and a lover of nature. He likes to go on long drives during his leisure time. He also loves to organize events and pursues it with passion.

Suryakant R. Narvekar

Suryakant is a Post Graduate in Management from Annamalai University and has a Diploma in Small Scale Industries Management. He also has done his Masters in Public Policy from ICFAI.

With a work experience spanning more than a decade, Suryakant has been associated with credible organizations both in the development sector and the corporate sector. Before joining SMILE, he was engaged with Helpage India as a Manager in the Goa and Sindhudurg areas. He was adjudged as the Best Employee for the year 2005-06 by Helpage India.

Suryakant is especially interested in Social Awareness, Education for children and Advocacy with government and corporate departments.

Manju is a Post Graduate in Rural Management from Xavier Institute for Management, Bubaneswar. Prior to joining Smile She has worked in the development sector on Project Management and Safe Drinking Water issues. At Smile Manju looks after national level innovative projects. She also has specialization in banking and cooperatives. Social marketing, advocacy and water related issues are what give her a high.

A passionate and god fearing person, Manju loves visiting distant exotic places. She loves music and dance. She is also a good singer.

Wilson Thomas

Wilson is a graduate from Mumbai University and also an alumnus of Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS). He has worked both in Commercial and Social Sector with a specialization in Sales and Marketing. For the last 10 years he was working with Population Services International (PSI) in various areas like Social Marketing, Communication, Capacity Building, and Programme Management, just prior to joining Smile Family.

Wilson has a specialization in the area of Mother and Child Health Programmes and HIV/AIDS  He is passionate about traveling and meeting new people.

N. Sriram is a graduate from Madras University and a diploma holder in Computer Applications. He has worked in reputed development agencies, Vishnupriya Enterprises, Dishnet DSL, and Waves Welfare Trust etc.. Sriram has been conducting awareness camps, vaccination programmes for Typhoid and Hepatitis-B. He has been awarded Lions Club award for the outstanding contribution in the field of Hepatitis.

N. Sriram loves to play Cricket. He has also represented Madras University in Cricket.

Shantanu has done his B.Sc. from Kolkata University. Before joining Smile Foundation, he has worked with GlaxoWellcome India Ltd, HelpAge India and Gati Corporation Limited.

He joined development sector with the aim of using his expertise in sales and marketing to undertake promotional campaigns for social environment programme and help elevate the lives of the socially disadvantaged population.

Being a team worker, he is a good communicator and likes to take up challenges in the workplace.

Rima Beri

Rima is an MSW pursuing PG in Management. Besides having acumen in project management, Rima has been instrumental in pursuing Smile's CSR strategy. Prior to joining Smile team she worked with various leading development organizations.

Rima loves traveling, enjoys painting and listening to music.

Lokesh Pande

Lokesh, an alumnus of Delhi University, has a work experience of more than 2 decades in Brand building and promotion. He has attended several in-house management development workshops and training programs and also won some important company awards for his outstanding achievements in the field of brand promotions while serving corporate houses like Wockhardt, Dr Reddy’s Labs etc.

Lokesh loves to write about his experiences of life during leisure time. An avid reader of autobiographical accounts of interesting personalities from various walks of life, he is a firm believer in the philosophy of “Live and Let Live” and enjoys exploring the intricacies and subtleties of life.

Amita Sharma has pursued B.A. (H) English from Delhi University and M.A. (English) from Punjab University. Before being a part of Smile Foundation Amita used to conduct English classes for Verbal Communication. She has also worked with HelpAge India.

Amita likes to read books related to women issues.

Soma Chakroborty is a graduate from Calcutta University and as worked with various corporate houses including PAFEX and DTDC. Before joining Smile’s Bangalore team she was working for the cause of cancer.

Soma Loves dancing and enjoys listening to music. At her leisure time she loves to write poetry.

KIRAN ARORA

Above all her responsibilities, Kiran is popular as the master trainer on self defence techniques and negotiation skills. Kiran is a Graduate in Sociology and a B. Ed. She has been in the sector for about a decade.

Kiran is a person who loves to be updated on women and social issues. She enjoys cooking a lot.

Raji Reddy

Raji Reddy is a Post Graduate in Economics. She has been working with leading non government organizations before being a part of Smile Foundation in Bangalore.

Musrath Begum

Musrath has completed her Graduation in Commerce. Before joining Team Smile she has worked with various organizations like Help Age India and SOS Children’s Village of India.

Satya is a post graduate in Humanities. He has been associated with social welfare activities for the last 15 years. He likes teaching poor children in his neighbourhood during his leisure time.

Satya is also an amateur actor and also loves to write short stories and plays in Oriya and Hindi.

Deepshikha has done her Masters in Extension Education with specialization in Non formal Education and Foods & Nutrition. She has done a research project in ‘Socioeconomic Factors of Coronary Artery Diseases’. At present she is pursuing her Ph.D. in Extension Education on “Sustainability of Self Help Groups.”

Deepshikha loves cooking, has a passion towards music and, of course, long drive.

SANDIP NAYAK

Sandip is pursuing his MBA from FOSTIIMA Business School, New Delhi besides having done PGD from Rajendra Prasad Institute of Communication & Management and B. Sc. in Physics. In Smile, he has taken up assignments in Alliances & Partnerships, Communication, Technology as well as Disaster Management. Prior to being a part of Smile family he has been to various fields like of Journalism, Tiger Conservation as well as Development Sector.

Sandip is a foodie in his own right. He loves cartooning, reading and venturing out to new places.

Debjoy Mallick is a graduate in Commerce from Kolkata University. He has worked with various organizations like Solutions, Dream Merchant and Care as Event Executive. He has also been associated as an Executive Educational Program with Global Cancer Concern India.

RAJ KUMAR JHA

Raj Kumar is a post graduarte in Human Rights from the Indian Institute of Human Rights (IIHR), New Delhi, after being graduated from University of Delhi. Before joining SMILE family, Raj Kumar was working with Dr. Reddy’s Foundation, a sister concern of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd in the nation wide Rural Livelihood Programmme called Grameen LABS. Raj Kumar is a part of SMILE's national level special programmes.

Raj Kumar, a dedicated and passionate individual, loves to study and gain knowledge about different cultures in India. He aspires to achieve something unique in life always and is instrumental in the innovative programmes of SMILE.

Sonia Tohan

Sonia has done her B.Com. from Janki Devi Mahavidyalaya in New Delhi, besides a course from Computer Education Centre on Basic Computer knowledge and Tally.

After Having an experience in accounting and administrative work for more than 5 years and working with firms like R. Mediratta and Associates (CA), Silicon Electronics Pvt.Ltd and Akays Exports, she joined SMILE to be able to contribute to the development sector through her experience and knowledge.

Sonia, a very serene personality, is a professional in her work and likes to do the best in whatever she is assigned to.

Ajaypal Singh is a Commerce Graduate with more than 3 years of experience in accounting and finance, besides having formal computer trainings. Besides his passion in development sector, Ajay’s interest lies in auditing responsibilities. Ajay plan to take up management study for handling bigger responsibilities in financial management and accountability evaluation in the non-profits.

Ajay aims to create an easy and improved system involving funding procedures, monitoring and accountability for the development organizations which can increase their credibility and bring maximum benefits to the cause they are working for.

Ajay enjoys playing cricket and listening to music, besides his work.

Soma Kanjilal

Soma has done MSW from Karve Institute of Social Service, Pune and a Post Graduate Diploma in Special Education (Multiple Disabilities: Physical & Neurological from REACH, Kalyani University) and another PG diploma in Human Rights from Indian Institute of Human Rights (IIHR).

Starting as a volunteer and graduating to a teacher and then to a programme associate, Soma has worked in social welfare organizations of repute like KRIPA de-addiction and rehabilitation centre, CINI Asha etc.

A trained vocalist and an amateur guitarist, Soma has a special liking for Indian classical and western pop music.

Mohd. Niyaz has done his B.Sc. ( IT & Management) from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar in Orissa. He is also pursuing his MBA degree from Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, New Delhi at present.

A highly enthusiastic person and with a passion to bring excellence in management of projects and programmes in the development sector with innovative strategies, Niaz joined Smile Foundation.

Prior to this, he was engaged with Prognosis Capital Advisors Pvt. Ltd. in its project management division.

Niyaz loves socializing, reading books, watching and playing cricket as well as Indian music.

Thomas Sidhu is a product of Punjab University. Thomas, a qualified technician, has chosen to for the cause of Smile Foundation.

Thomas, a versatile personality, loves to travel and interact with people. Interest in Music is another facet of his versatility.

Thomas has a keen interest in computers and is an expert in hardware and operating systems, computers networking. Thomas has big ideas up his sleeves for mobilizing resources for Smile.

Tripti is a Commerce Graduate from Kolkata University and had been teaching Mathematics, Accountancy and Book Keeping for a couple of years now. She was also involved in her family Accounts firm.

Possessing a cordial personality, Tripti likes to be sincere and devoted to her work.

Her hobbies include reading books and listening to music.

AMOS.S

Amos has done his Bachelors in English Literature from Loyola College and his Masters in Medical Sociology from the same esteemed institution. Presently he is pursuing his MBA degree from Anna University, Chennai.

With good field work experience and administrative qualities, Amos has good written and oral skills and is energetic and patient which helps him to work under pressure.

Besides this he has done an integrated study on HIV/AIDS in Chennai and is a gold medalist in his Masters degree.

Annop is a dedicated and qualified social worker. He completed his Masters in social work form Bharathiar University with specialization in Community Development. He has been associated as a Social Worker Trainee with DON–BOSCO ANBU ILLAM, Coimbatore, Shanti Ashram, an NGO working for women empowerment and Peoples Service Society Palakkad.

Prior to joining Smile Foundation Annop has worked as Social Worker in Care & Protection of the Tsunami affected children in Kerela, a Psycho Social Venture of Social Welfare Department, Government of Kerela & PSCJ supported by UNICEF and as supervisor in Kerala State Transport Project. He was involved in a study on Social Economic Condition of the Tribals in India.

Annop is a great lover of music and also enjoys reading books.

KRISHNASAI.P

Krishnasai has done his Masters in Public administration from Annamalai University and also has basic computer knowledge. Having an experience of more than a decade, Krishnasai has been engaged with many medical firms as a sales executive. Before joining Smile, he was working as a Senior Field Officer in CMARC India Pvt.Ltd.

With a pleasant personality, Krishnasai is well versed in languages such as Tamil, Telegu, Malayam. His hobbies include reading and traveling and was a leading flight cadet of the N.C.C (Air Wing).

Dipanita has done her Post Graduation with an additional diploma in Tours and Travel Management. She has been an active university level badminton player and also vice-president of Rotaract club during her college days.

She started her career as a fund raiser with Helpage India in 1996 and after serving them for 6 years, joined Global Cancer Concern India as a Senior Manager – Resource Development. Dipanita is a very experienced and highly focused individual.

Prasanna has done his Bachelors in Commerce from Nagpur University and a PG Diploma in Event Management from National Institute of Event Management, Nagpur. He is currently pursuing his MBA from Nagpur.

Having expertise in event management, he coordinated programmes for both corporate and development organizations.

Prasanna believes in managing qualities with adaptation to different environments and is proficient in public relations and marketing.

Shilpi is a MSW (Master in Social Work) from Banaras Hindu University (BHU). She has five years experience in development sector. She has worked with Population Services International (PSI) in HIV/AIDS intervention Programme. Apart from this, she has worked with ALERT-INDIA Aastha Project funded by FHI/SOSVA with the objective of reduction of STIs and HIV/AIDS awareness.

She believes in honesty, hard work and dedication. Her hobbies include reading, watching movies and interacting with people.

Pooja, is graduate in social work from Nirmala Niketan College of Social Work, Mumbai. She has experience of working with a few NGOs in Mumbai. She also got an opportunity to work with Women and Child Welfare Department, Maharashtra and other government agencies like Child Welfare Committee, Mumbai & Suburbs, Government Shelter Home for minor victims rescued from trafficking, attended few hearings in High Court during her work. She has been part of World Social Forum, Mumbai and Tsunami Relief Camp, Tamil Nadu in 2004.

She also had an exposure of BPO, while working with them for a year, which was an enriching experience, she says.

Pooja is currently pursuing her MBA in Social Entrepreneurship from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai.

Her interests and hobbies are to visit different places within the country, listen soft music, cooking and eating good food.

Anita

Anita is a Project Coordinator in women development initiative of Smile. She has done her B.A. Honours in Political Science from Delhi University. Prior to this, she has been associated with various grassroots level organizations.

Shailbala

Shailbala, a BA Honours in History from University of Delhi, has been working in community health education programme. She has been a teacher in Delhi Public School (DPS) for 8 years. She has trainings in Violence against Women issues too.

Shailabala believes in smiling a lot and she gets her way with the community people in spreading awareness on relevant issues through her smile.

Rajni Thapa Dhorny

Rajni has been associated with child health and education programmes for past 17 years now. With a vast experience in community work, Rajni has donned many caps which include working as a tailoring teacher to a Field Officer.

Currently, Rajni has been working as a Community Health Educator. Along with imparting knowledge on issues concerning women’s health and adolescent, she works on vocational skills training for girls.

Dolly Juniwal

Dolly is a Community Health Educator in Smile communities. She had been associated with Swaasthya for 11 years in the capacity of a Field Officer initially and later on as a Field Supervisor.

During her stint in Swaasthya, Dolly was involved in a variety of activities such as conducting sessions on IEC, RCH, RTI, STD, menstruation, ANC and PNC. She was also involved in forming SHGs and Mahila Panchayats. She has often been engaged as a community trainer.

Reena Tyagi

Reena is a Health Educator. She is a strong and determined lady who managed to pursue her studies till Bachelors after her marriage. As a Health Educator, she gives sessions to the women and adolescents in her community on a range of issues concerning them.

Kalpana Roy

Kalpana is an integral part of Smile’s community mobilisation team. With remarkable commitment and indomitable spirit, she spends most of her time in the community with women and adolescents girls spreading awareness on relevant issues such as menstural hygiene, safe motherhood, ANC and PNC, nutrition etc.

She also follows up with the women registered for pregnancy and accompanies them to the hospitals incase of emergency referrals.

Roopa

Roopa, working as a Project Coordinator, has an extensive experience in community mobilization. She has done B.A. in Political Science (Corr.) from University of Delhi. She has prior experience of working as a Non Formal Educator in Delhi for four years. Roopa has also worked as a computer teacher at an MCD School at Adhchini in Delhi.

Roopa loves working with children, particularly young girls.

Nutan

Nutan has been associated with community work in various capacities with 10 years of experience in this sector. Currently she has been contributing as a Community Health Educator. With her certain charm and grace, she takes sessions on variety of issues among the community members and leaves a lasting impression on them.

Chandrakala

Chandrakala works in women health and education in the community. Earlier she has been working with various community NGOs as field worker.

Chandrakala has attended extensive trainings on HIV/AIDS and girl child issues.
