The need for increased volunteer effort is greater today given the increasing complexities globally and as a result of threatening diseases, degrading environment and fast changing life styles, often laced with abuses.
Besides, certain expenditures that NGOs save with the help of volunteering efforts of passionate and dedicated individuals which otherwise they may have to incur (and NGOs are usually fund starved) adds further to the need and demand for such efforts (individuals).
However, finding a suitably skilled volunteer or vise-versa is usually not very easy, despite the fact that scores of people are willing and look forward to such opportunities. Reasons for the same may be numerous, but the one, which seems apparent, is that, the sector is still in the formative stage of getting organized and well structured. Initiatives in this regard by institutions like UN and other national agencies, being welcome efforts, not withstanding.
Smile Foundation makes a small initiative in this regard as a Facilitator for meeting the demands of its partner organizations by inviting requests from interested individuals willing to volunteer and offer their expertise and skills, doing need-capabilities analysis and recommending the concerned individuals to NGO partners or others as per suitability.
To augment the facilitation further, Smile Foundation welcomes individuals as well as institutional volunteers to apply for the same. Since Smile facilitates the process, the volunteers would be appointed for need based assignments with a volunteering period of minimum one month. SMILE invites volunteers with pure passion and dedication and therefore would not provide any allowances for the same.
Besides individual volunteering programme, Smile Foundation also conducts volunteering programmes for corporate partners too.
