Smile foundation organized a health camp at Shashi Garden in East Delhi in association with BlackRock Gives (philanthropic arm of Black Rock Inc.), to provide preventive, curative and promotive healthcare services to the underprivileged community in the area, especially women and children.
The camp benefitted 139 children, 167 women and 40 men. General physician Dr. Anand Lodhi, Paediatrician Dr. Visjal Deep, and Gynaecologist Dr. Blessing Jha were assisted by a team of lab technician, pharmacist, Smile Foundation’s community mobilisers, project team and volunteers from BlackRock who rendered their services towards the smooth functioning of the camp.
Children in the age group of 0-5 years and their mothers were a special focus group of the camp.
The Shashi Garden slum cluster has been served under Swabhiman programme of Smile Foundation since 2005, with focus on health and empowerment of girl children and women. A specialized mobile hospital also covers the area under Swabhiman. However, Smile Health Camps are conducted at intervals in order to provide intensive healthcare service based on the morbidity record and seasonal needs of a particular area.
