To support a STeP centre at Kanakpura
Bangalore : December 7, 2015: Smile Foundation, a national level development organization joined hands with Mantri Developers, one of India’s leading real estate developers, to support the livelihood for marginalized youths at Kanakpura area, Bangalore. Under this partnership, Mantri Developers will support a new Smile Twin e Learning Program (STeP) centre that will benefit around 100 youths in the urban slums of the area. Most of the beneficiaries under the project are from economically backward section and this life-transforming programme (STeP) will help them to face the employment market and thus support their family.
Smile Twin E- learning Programme (STeP) is an initiative of Smile Foundation that aims at creating a pool of young and independent people, from the marginalized section, through skill enhancement in tandem with market requirements. STeP is an effort towards bridging the gap between demand and supply of skilled manpower. This national level programme trains the urban underprivileged adolescent youth in English proficiency, basic computer education and soft skills for enhancing their prospects of employment in the fast expanding retail, hospitality and BPO sectors. After the successful accomplishment of the training, Smile Foundation provides placement assistance for STeP students.

Smile Twin e-Learning Programme (STeP) is a national level livelihood programme that trains urban underprivileged youth with market-oriented job skills such as English, basic computer, personality development, retail management, relevant soft skills etc and makes them employed in retail and service sectors across India. So far, more than 16,000 youth have been trained and 11,550 have been placed in over 140 brands through 45 operational projects across India.
