A health camp was organized for women, adolescent girls and children at Surat Nagar, Gurugram under Smile Foundation’s Swabhiman programme.
Ante-natal check-ups and one-on-one counselling sessions were held for mothers and expecting mothers. Regular health check-up was conducted for children and women. The health camp, facilitated by a team of medical professionals, Swabhiman Health Volunteers (SHVs) and Community Health Educators (CHEs), also provided free medicines to the beneficiaries.
The community women were also made aware of hygienic practices and healthy eating habits that they should adopt in their daily lives, and subsequently in their families’ routine.
Dedicated to the welfare of women and the girl child, Swabhiman functions with the belief that when women our empowered, the whole society benefits – families are healthier, children go to school, income levels improve and communities become more prosperous.
Swabhiman works through an innovative and highly effective approach called the ‘4 S Model’, which stands for Seeking Healthcare as a Behaviour, Support for Education, Supporters in Men through Male Involvement, and Sustaining the Change in Communities.
