As the monsoon sets in it is very important for people to take preventive measures against a number of diseases which spread due to stagnation of water etc. People in urban slums and rural areas are most affected by these diseases because they lack awareness and take little or no preventive measures.
Smile on Wheels recently conducted an awareness session for the people living in the urban slums of Ahmadabad. The people were sensitized about the measures to be taken in cases of diarrhea and other skin diseases. The volunteers and doctors also spoke about the harms of letting dirty water stand in pools and drains and the steps to be taken in case of such situations.
The Smile on Wheels programme has so far provided free healthcare services to more than 10 lakh children and families.
Smile Foundation is a national level development organisation directly benefitting over 400,000 children and their families every year, through more than 200 live welfare projects on education, healthcare, livelihood and women empowerment, in over 950 remote villages and slums across 25 states of India.
