Smile Foundation and Youth Hostel Association of India organised a hiking and trekking expedition for the children of Hamara School Goa, a project supported by Smile Foundation, on 23rd November 2008. Total 17 children from the project between the age group 11 and 14 participated in the programme.
The hiking route was from Dhargem village to Mollem wildlife sanctuary in the state of Goa. The children trekked the distance of 14 kms, crossing rivulets and the Western Ghats forest. The main objective of this expedition was to develop awareness about the nature, caring for the environment and a sense of camaraderie among the children.
Sadika Buddaseth from Smile Foundation Goa office led the expedition, along with teachers from Hamara School project.
