Renowned actor Padma Shri Ajay Devgn has joined hands with Smile Foundation as Goodwill Ambassador for ‘She Can Fly’ – an initiative to support education and empowerment of girl children.

“I have a daughter at home and I know education is the most important thing to bring a change. A nation does not only consist of men; it is about men and women together. Women, not only in our country but all over the world, suffer from one problem or the other. I would love to change that. But, I can only try and make a little effort. We all have to do it together. Let’s pledge to ensure education for every girl. Don’t say no because she’s a girl, give her wings because She Can Fly”, said Ajay Devgn while flagging off the initiative with his daughter Nysa and Chef Vikas Khanna.

Employees from leading corporate including Ericsson Global, Colgate Palmolive, Philips, FIS, Adobe Nippon, KFC and Burrp, joined hands with Smile Foundation to celebrate the Joy of Giving Week. The campaign was aimed at sensitizing and mobilizing individuals to take up their social responsibility. The funds raised went towards the education of less privileged children, supporting their critical needs such as stationery, school kits, uniforms, nutrition and scholarship. Enthusiastic participation from the employees ensured the campaign’s success, with educational support being provided to more than 500 children

Renowned clothing brand Meena Bazaar joined hands with Smile Foundation to honour all teachers by unveiling a special collection for them. Part proceeds from the sales were extended towards education of less privileged children under the Mission Education programme. Meena Bazaar is a Delhi-based Indian ethnic wear retail brand established in 1970, known for its exclusive and exquisite range of Sarees, Suits, Lehengas, Kurtis, Gowns and Anarkalis.
For the second consecutive year, Triumph Motorcycles India joined hands with Smile Foundation to raise awareness and support for the cause of child education. Triumph motorcycles customers from twelve cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Kochi, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Indore, and Jaipur, took to the road and pledged their support towards the cause.
Smile Foundation children had a ball as they went on-air on the popular reality show MasterChef India. They were invited for a special children's episode, which also coincided with Chef Vikas Khanna's birthday, who is one of the judges on the show. Chef Vikas has been championing the cause of Nutrition for Education with Smile Foundation. Toonz Retail India Pvt. Ltd. dressed up the kids stylishly for the occasion in their latest “Super Young's” fashion forward collection. The children also got to meet the other judges on the show, Chef Kunal Kapur and Zorawar Kalra.
Adobe employees dedicated a day towards bringing smiles through science for Smile Foundation children at an all girls Mission Education centre in Ghaziabad. Pairing up with the kids, they participated in group discussions, quizzes, model making and many other activities on various science related topics. Later, each group made a presentation and the children were gifted goody bags by their new friends.
Over 200 employees from AXA Business Services ran for Smile Foundation at the TCS World 10K Bengaluru Marathon to support the cause of girl child education. “The path emerges when we walk on it...let us make a difference by running in support of education and equality”, said a volunteer from AXA.
As a volunteering activity, employees from Worldline India Pvt. Ltd. spent a fun day with Smile Foundation children at a Mission Education centre in Mumbai. The corporate volunteers took charge and hosted various activities including cake cutting, interactive games, sharing memories of school days and a photo shoot. They also played Antakshari with the kids and danced together on popular songs.
FIS Payment Solutions Pvt. Ltd. joined hands with Smile Foundation to support the education of 200 underprivileged children under its Mission Education programme in one of Asia's largest slum – Dharavi in Mumbai. At the inaugural function, the FIS team led by Ramaswamy Venkatachalam, MD (India & South Asia) and Ninad Chavda, Finance Director distributed new school bags to the children.
Anmol Jewellers joined hands with Smile Foundation to launch the global initiative The Street Store in Mumbai, India. The Street Store is a first-of-its-kind pop-up clothing store for the homeless and less privileged. Popular actress Alia Bhatt joined the Smile kids during the inaugural ceremony.
Singer Kailash Kher and former parliamentarian Priya Dutt shared lessons on education, cleanliness and personal hygiene with Smile Foundation children, as part of NDTV's initiative 'Swachhata Ki Pathshala'. Both the sessions were thoroughly enjoyed by the children as they put forward their own views on the subject and discussed possible solutions for their immediate neighbourhood and communities.
Ericsson Global India Pvt. Ltd. invited Smile Foundation children to be a part of the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Day celebrations held at their office in Gurgaon. The kids were taken on a tour of the company premises and the data centre by the employees and explained through easy and lively interactions about their work. There were many games like musical chairs and fun activities like painting competition and storytelling which were enjoyed together by the children and the Ericsson team.
Many inspiring quotes of the great philanthropist Nelson Mandela adorned the walls of the classrooms at a Mission Education centre in Mumbai, as the South African Consulate chose to celebrate Mandela Day with Smile Foundation children. Diplomats from the South African Consulate relived their childhood days as they joined the Smile kids – painting walls, singing, dancing and remembering the teachings of Nelson Mandela. The Consulate also extended support towards the education of children under Mission Education programme.
Employees from FIS Global visited Mission Education centre in Gurgaon, which is also supported by FIS, and conducting an engaging and knowledgeable session on environment for the children. They shared the 3-R concept Reduce, Reuse and Recycle with the kids and also taught the kids how to make beautiful bags out of old newspapers and waste materials.
Young volunteers from Smile Foundation participated in the Maha Cleanathon initiative in Mumbai, joining forces with NDTV and eminent personalities including the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Prasoon Joshi, Vikram Chandra and Shaina NC. Smile volunteers from 100 locations across India have pledged to dedicate two hours daily for the cause and help spread awareness on cleanliness and hygiene.
Quaker Oats, Chef Vikas Khanna and actress Saiyami Kher joined hands with Smile Foundation to pledge support for the cause of nutrition for children on the occasion of World Food Day. At the uniquely conceptualized launch ceremony of the Quaker Feed a Child campaign, Chef Vikas prepared healthy and nutritious oat-based recipes for Smile Foundation children, and along with Saiyami, shared a very special brunch with them.
The Walt Disney Company (India) organised a special screening of their film 'Finding Dory' for Smile kids in Bengaluru. 100 girls and boys from the age group of 9-12 years were taken to the Forum Mall to watch the film. For many of these kids, this was the first experience of watching a film at a multiplex. The children were also gifted the book “Finding Dory the Film” and many other goodies after the screening.
Swarosvki joined hands with Smile Foundation by supporting the education of 100 girl children across India. The partnership was launched through a fun event in Delhi where Smile kids participated in various activities and got a chance to interact with Shivani Wazir Pasrich. Founded in 1895 in Austria, Swarovski designs, creates, and markets high-quality crystal product collections such as jewelry, accessories, decorative items for the home, ornaments, and figurines.
Smile Foundation children spent an ideal healthy morning as they participated in Yoga by the Bay, a unique event to promote yoga among youngsters, held at Marine Drive in Mumbai. Shaina NC and Mickey Mehta were present to encourage the children to practice yoga regularly for a healthy body and mind.

Smile Foundation participated in the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon for the seventh consecutive year as a “Change Runner” to raise resources for the education of children studying at Mission Education centres across India. Volunteers from leading corporate including BlackRock Services Pvt. Ltd., Amtek Auto Limited and JK Cement joined the Smile team and supported the cause.

 

Ramp for Champs-11th Edition at Mumbai

The 11th edition of Smile Foundation’s charity fashion show Ramp for Champs, dedicated to girl child education, was held at the Hyatt Regency in Mumbai. Titled “Divine Flowers”, the event centred on the symbolic divinity, beauty and joyful spirit of flowers, as reflected in human form by children.

More than 50 celebrities and personalities including Archana Kochhar, Amyra Dastur, Sonal Chauhan, Meyang Chang, Shaleen Bhanot, Praveen Dabas, Karan Patel and Ankita Bhargawa, Radha Dheer, Shweta Rohira, Giaa Manek, Preetika Rao, Hunar and Mayank Gandhi, Rakhi and Hemang Pandit, Ridhima Pandit, Gurpreet Gura, Shruti Tejwani, Sukriti Kakar, Prakriti Kakar, Terence Lewis, Karan Grover, Caesar Gonsalves, Ajaz Khan, Shravan Reddy, Abhijeet Sawant, VJ Andy, Sushant Singh, Rati Pandey, Sara Khan, Shraddha Arya, Prashant Sawant, Pretty Agarwal, Sarika Mehra, Yugma Desai, Sanskruti Balgude, Aditi Singh Sharma, Pooja Sawant, Sejal Sharma, and Meghna Naidu were present to lend their support.

Smile kids matched steps with these personalities surprising everyone with their style and confidence. The kids were the real champs of the show, as the whole evening had been organized for the sole purpose of supporting their education.

Charity Dinner with Virat Kohli Foundation

for Empowerment of Children and Youth

Virat Kohli Foundation has joined hands with Smile Foundation to support the cause of empowerment of less privileged children and youth. As a first step towards this endeavour, Virat hosted a one-of-its-kind charity dinner at Hyatt Regency, Mumbai, and was joined by his colleagues Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Shikhar Dhawan, Yuvraj Singh, Ajinkay Rahane and KL Rahul.

“The sole purpose behind this initiative is to raise awareness and support for the cause of education and skill training for the thousands of less privileged children and youth in India. I am glad to see the support that has come from all corners. As a public personality, I realise that I have a huge responsibility on my shoulder to support causes that matter to the society the most and I am glad that my foundation has joined hands with Smile Foundation towards this”, said Virat Kohli.

The fund-raiser also saw an auction of selective high-end luxury products and cricket memorabilia close to the heart of the star batsman and his cricketer friends. The amount raised will help support empowerment of underprivileged children and youth. The auction was conducted by Malcolm Todywalla from Todywalla Auctions. Mesmerizing performances from Armaan Malik, Neeti Mohan, Sandip Soparrkar, Nitish Bharti, The Invincible (led by Shraey Khanna) and Nitisha Nanda left the audience spellbound.

Smile Foundation joined hands with Exhibit Magazine as exclusive Charity Partner for the Tech Fashion Tour held at St. Regis, Mumbai. Celebrities including Divya Khosla Kumar, Mugdha Godse, Tusshar Kapoor, Gautam Gulati, Claudia Ciesla, along with Founder & CEO of Exhibit Technology Rame Ramani, pledged support towards the Mission Education programme.

 

Avery Dennison joined hands with Smile Foundation to support its women empowerment programme Swabhiman through a new project in Gurgaon which will benefit a population of over 15,000. Avery Dennison has already been supporting scholarship for less privileged girls under the programme since 2014. A recognized industry leader, Avery Dennison develops innovative identification and decorative solutions for businesses and consumers worldwide.

Siddhomal Charitable Trust, the philanthropic arm of INOX Group, joined hands with Smile Foundation to support the education of 100 underprivileged children under Mission Education programme, and livelihood training for young women in Delhi under STeP programme. Inox Group has been a leader in industrial gases, fluorocarbons, multiplexes and cryogenic engineering from 1963.

Deutsche Bank AG Limited partnered with Smile Foundation to support five Smile on Wheels mobile hospital projects in Ludhiana, Surat, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Mumbai. Having established its first branch in India in 1980, Deutsche Bank currently has over 11,000 employees in the country and is operating branches in 16 cities. With over 500,000 individual customers, Deutsche Bank is a fully integrated financial services provider to Indian corporate, institutional and individual clients.

Learn on Demand (LearnOD) partnered with Smile Foundation to support the education of underprivileged children under the Mission Education programme. LearnOD is India's fastest growing certification training providing company which has introduced the 'Learning Concierge' concept where each student will enjoy studying with a focused approach to ensure that they achieve their goals.

Ericsson India Pvt. Ltd. joined hands with Smile Foundation once again to extend its support towards the STeP Programme for 20 new centres in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai. Under its purview of CSR, Ericsson has a special initiative called Connect to Learn, within which it implements Information and Communications technology in schools and learning institutions in resource-poor settings, to ensure that children and youth, no matter where they live, have access to learning resources and quality education.

Perfetti Van Melle India partnered with Smile Foundation through its brand Happydent to support the education of 140 children through a fun and interactive campaign called “Happydent Smile Please”. Under the initiative, for every smiling picture shared on the campaign website, a certain amount is being contributed to the Mission Education programme. Perfetti Van Melle India Pvt. Ltd. is a renowned manufacturer, distributor and marketer of several high quality sugar confectionery products.

Shire India supported the cause of child education under Smile Foundation's Mission Education programme. To celebrate the partnership, employees from Shire celebrated their Global Day of Service with Smile kids. With medicines available in more than 100 countries, Shire – a global biopharmaceutical company with a purpose, enables people with life-altering conditions to lead better lives.

Intas is supporting Mission Education programme through Sartel, a highly reputed anti-hypertensive brand of the Indian pharmaceutical market. For every strip of Sartel sold, an amount goes towards the education of underprivileged children. Intas Pharmaceuticals Ltd is a leading, vertically integrated Indian Pharmaceutical Company committed to deliver affordable and innovative pharmaceutical solutions.

Through their fourth year of support, Canara HSBC OBC is supporting employability training for underprivileged youth in Mumbai under their project “Saksham”.
