A workshop on Life Skills and Values was conducted at the Central India Public School, Kapsi, in Nagpur, Maharashtra under Smile Foundation’s Child for Child programme. More than 100 students from Class 8th to 10th participated actively in the workshop, along with the school teachers and Principal Mr. Rajendra Mishra, who also inaugurated the workshop.
The three-hour workshop covered issues central to any student’s life, like Effective Communication (Listening & Hearing), Social Skills & Etiquettes, Positive Attitude, Setting Goals and Time Management. Various engaging activities were conducted and examples were shared with the students to help them understand the importance of these key life skills and values. To ensure that the students do not forget this as a one off session, they were given follow-up exercises to assess their own life skills and the areas that need improvement. Sneh Thakkar, a Class 10th student, took up the responsibility of getting the exercise done and sharing the responses with the teachers.
The Principal Mr. Mishra assured to continue with this process of sharing and learning realizing that this is a long drawn process and one or two workshops won’t suffice. The students also expressed their desire to learn more and requested further sessions.
