Philips India Limited and Smile Foundation have been working together to make quality primary healthcare accessible in some of India’s most underserved districts, and the difference it’s making is truly inspiring. Over the past five years, we’ve been reaching out to urban slums and rural villages, deploying four Mobile Telemedicine Units in Virudhunagar (Tamil Nadu), Gadag (Karnataka), Mewat (Haryana) and the Shirur block of Pune.
What’s exciting is how these mobile units are bringing essential health services right to people’s doorsteps. In the year 2023-24 alone, we’ve reached 74,240 people who might not have had easy access to healthcare otherwise.
While Philips has been supporting our efforts for five years, their specific backing for our telemedicine and mobile units began two years ago. This collaboration has allowed us to harness technology to overcome barriers and ensure more people receive the care they need.

In a significant collaboration with Relaxo Foundation, Smile Foundation is tackling the challenging cycle of inadequate medical amenities through its Smile on Wheels (SoW) initiative. The focus is on providing affordable healthcare services at the doorstep, while also promoting a behavioral change within the community to encourage seeking early treatment for any health concerns.

Through this collaboration, Smile Foundation and Relaxo Foundation are actively working to bridge the healthcare gap and ensure that underserved communities have access to affordable and timely healthcare services. By providing doorstep medical support and promoting early intervention, they are empowering individuals to take charge of their health and break free from the cycle of healthcare inaccessibility
