Oral health plays a vital role in overall wellbeing, and in India, there’s a growing need for accessible dental care, especially for underserved populations. In response, GlaxoSmithKline Asia Private Limited, under its CSR initiative, launched the “Smile on Wheels” mobile dental project in partnership with Smile Foundation.
This initiative brings four mobile dental vans to provide free dental consultations to underprivileged communities across Delhi NCR. Two vans operate in Delhi, while one serves Gurgaon and another, initially stationed in Noida, was relocated to Agra in October 2023, starting operations in November.
These mobile units are bridging the gap in dental healthcare access, offering services directly to those who need it most. As of now, 34,514 people have benefitted from the oral health services provided by these mobile units.
Oral health is a critical indicator of overall well-being, and it is imperative to address the prevailing burden of oral diseases in our country. Recognizing the disparities and the need for intervention, GlaxoSmithKline Asia Private Limited has launched a remarkable CSR initiative called “Smile on Wheels Mobile Dental Vans” in Delhi NCR, in collaboration with Smile Foundation.
This initiative aims to provide free dental care consultations to underprivileged communities and bridge the gap in access to dental care at the grassroots level. Four mobile dental vans have been deployed as part of this program, with two operating in Delhi, and one each in Gurgaon and Noida.
The Smile on Wheels Mobile Dental Vans serve as a lifeline for those who may not have the means or resources to access quality dental care. These vans are equipped with state-of-the-art dental facilities and staffed by skilled professionals who are dedicated to improving oral health outcomes in the community.
By bringing dental care directly to the underprivileged communities, GlaxoSmithKline and Smile Foundation are making a significant impact on the lives of individuals who may otherwise have limited access to oral healthcare services. The mobile vans provide vital consultations, preventive care, and treatment options, ensuring that oral health becomes a priority for everyone, regardless of their socio-economic background.
Through this CSR initiative, GlaxoSmithKline and Smile Foundation are actively working towards reducing the burden of oral diseases and promoting oral hygiene practices among the underprivileged sections of society. By increasing awareness, accessibility, and utilization of dental care services, they are contributing to the overall well-being and improved quality of life for individuals in need.
The Smile on Wheels Mobile Dental Vans serve as a shining example of how corporations can step forward and make a positive impact on society. GlaxoSmithKline’s commitment to promoting oral health and Smile Foundation’s dedication to serving underprivileged communities are commendable. Together, they are transforming lives, one smile at a time.
