Life Skill Training session for young girl scholars from Chennai

125 girls from Chennai attend a life-skill training session. The girls, belonging to underserved families, are extremely talented, meritorious and are recipients of Smile Foundation’s Disha Scholarship, supported by Birlasoft Limited that is helping them pursue higher education. The session focused on introducing the girls to self-reflection exercises, helping them in identifying their strengths, understanding the importance of self-esteem, team work, focus and motivation. Sessions on stress management, mental health and leadership development were also conducted.

Shell Nxplorers Junior Programme to benefit over 25,000 children

The Shell NXplorers Junior programme was launched for students from 120 schools in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in association with Smile Foundation. Under the innovative programme, young students will be educated and empowered through a series of workshops that will help them understand, navigate and address local and global challenges. The initiative will benefit over 25,000 underserved students from government schools and affordable private schools, studying in rural and hard-to-reach areas, and create awareness on the importance of STEM education.

Digital Health Revolution Seminar by PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry

Satnam Singh, General Manager – Programme (Health & Disaster Response), represented Smile Foundation as a panelist in the seminar titled "The Digital Health Revolution: Transforming Healthcare Delivery" organized by PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry. It was an opportunity to share our ground experience alongside distinguished co-panelists hailing from the corporate, health-tech, and government sectors, including the MD & CEO of Tata Medical & Diagnostics Ltd, CEO of the National Health Authority, Addl. Secretary, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, among others.

Up-skilling painters and helping create better livelihood opportunities

Berger Paints India Ltd. has partnered with Smile Foundation to implement the iTrain on Wheels up-skilling initiative, aimed at honing the skills of aspiring and existing painters. This will help develop a pool of skilled workforce, expand their employability opportunities, and help them build entrepreneurial skills. Since 2021, the iTrain on Wheels initiative has trained thousands of painters in 24 states over 100+ remote sites nationwide. Smile Foundation, in alignment with the Skill India Mission, aims to skill and up-skill aspiring underserved youth through such initiatives under its livelihood programme STEP.

160 women from urban slums complete financial literacy training

Swabhiman, Smile Foundation’s women empowerment programme, certified more than 160 women under the financial literacy training during the Certification Ceremony held in New Delhi. The certification ceremony was attended by Mr. Vinay Arora Senior Director - Head of Operations - Gurugram & Noida at S&P Global. The programme, supported by S&P Global India, with knowledge partner Crisil Foundation, is working with women from marginalised communities so that they can step outside their comfort zones to help them become self-reliant and independent.

Clarivate employees volunteer at School Health Camp in Delhi

It was heartwarming to have employees from Clarivate volunteering alongside the Smile on Wheels team at Aisha Public school in Jaitpur, Delhi. They participated in various activities with the children including participating in colouring competition and being active volunteers of the medical checkup of children conducted under the Smile on Wheels mobile healthcare project being supported by Clarivate. The project aims to benefit more than 15,000 children and families by providing doorstep primary healthcare services and promote a health seeking behavior among underserved communities.

Honda India Team supports Summer Camp in Govt School of Alwar

The Summer Camp at Government Girls Sr. Sec. School in Tapukara, Alwar, implemented by Smile Foundation and supported by Honda India Foundation, was full of learning and fun. During the closing ceremony, the students showcased remarkable achievements including science models and digital lab activities, and gave enthralling musical performances. The event also recognized students' exceptional efforts across academics, model making, music, art and craft, and sports.

Transport Arogyam Kendra in Ranchi provides Physiotherapy Services

Truck Drivers often drive long-haul routes in confined spaces and ignore their health. In order to focus on their health and overall well-being, a Transport Aarogyam Kendra in Ranchi has been set up. The static clinic provides OPD and physiotherapy services to the trucking community of the area, meeting their specialized health care needs. To promote a health seeking behaviour, awareness is spread through distribution of pamphlets, display of posters, wall writing and audio visual aids.

Capacity building of vocational trainers under Project Manzil in Rajasthan

Under Project Manzil, a comprehensive training of Vocational Trainers in six districts of Rajasthan was concluded successfully. With a focus on Student Counseling and Employability Skills Facilitation, the program trained 581 Vocational Trainers from 295 schools. The training was conducted by Smile Foundation in association with Tech Mahindra Foundation, for the IPE Global supported project. Project Manzil aims to support adolescent girls in achieving their career goals and educational aspirations.

Enabling local social initiatives under Empowering Grassroots

Smile Foundation, under its Empowering Grassroots initiative, equipped Action for Women and Rural Development (AWARD) with essential skills for local fundraising. AWARD is doing transformative work in Satara, Sangli, and Raigad districts of Maharashtra on sustainable agriculture and Adivasi community livelihoods. The mentoring helped AWARD to organize a hugely successful food fair, allowing visitors to support their cause while enjoying the local produce.

Workshop on Emotional Wellbeing & Empathetic Teaching

Under its Child For Child programme, Smile Foundation organized a special workshop for teachers on emotional well-being and how it affects student success in the classroom. The workshop, conducted in Bharti Public School, New Delhi, was designed to help teachers achieve higher efficiency and a better understanding of classroom dynamics, skillfully using emotional expressions to promote learning enjoyment and improve student-teacher relationships and a positive school climate.

Health Camp for children in Zilla Parishad School in Maharashtra

The Smile on Wheels mobile healthcare programme team visited the Zilla Parishad School in Jambhivali, Maharashtra to conduct a comprehensive School Health Camp. The children learned all about the importance of proper handwashing, personal hygiene, nutrition, and general health maintenance for their development. School Health Camps are a regular activity under the Smile on Wheels programme to inculcate healthy habits and hygiene awareness in children from a young age.
