Smile Foundation has partnered with IndoStar Home Finance Private Limited to launch a new Swabhiman project in Modgaon, Palghar, Maharashtra. The launch event at Modgaon Gram Panchayat saw participation from IndoStar team, government officials including the Gram Panchayat leader, the Principal of Modgaon School, and community members. The Swabhiman project aims to empower women through reproductive health awareness and entrepreneurship development, impacting over 5,000 women and adolescent girls.
A training program for 781 Vocational Trainers from 520 government schools across nine districts in Rajasthan was successfully carried out under Project Manzil, implemented by Smile Foundation and supported by IPE Global. The training curriculum included the importance of vocational education, effective facilitation, classroom management, interview techniques, professional communication, and interactive teaching methods. This training aims to better equip trainers to guide students toward successful careers, demonstrating a strong commitment to improving vocational education and supporting students' career aspirations.
Member of Parliament and Actor Ravi Kishan launched Smile on Wheels mobile medical units that will serve 12 villages in the Gorakhpur district. The mobile healthcare project, supported by MSD India, will provide free primary healthcare services to people. Equipped with qualified doctors, para-medical staff, point-of-care services, and diagnostic facilities, offering free OPD services and medicines to the underserved population, the MMUs aim to strengthen and supplement the government’s healthcare system, enhancing accessibility and availability of quality primary healthcare services in rural areas.
195 students completed their engineering journey through the Siemens Scholarship Program, co-implemented by Smile Foundation. A farewell ceremony was held to celebrate the students' achievements in Bengaluru and featured a soft skills workshop, fun activities, and sessions on sustainability and compliance led by Siemens employees. Since 2013, the program has granted scholarships to over 1635 students from 137 colleges across India, enabling them to pursue their engineering dreams. Many have secured placements in leading companies across various sectors, inspiring many other young people.
Smile Foundation and Grant Thornton Bharat launched a skilling project to empower youth in Delhi. The joint initiative aims to train approximately 135-145 young people over a period of 13 months and includes modules on various in-demand skills tailored to local industry needs; and career counseling sessions to support job placements and professional development. The programme will increase employability, providing better job opportunities and financial stability for the trainees and their families.
A local fundraising training event was organized in collaboration with Change the Game Academy. Designed to strengthen the fundraising capabilities of community-based organizations (CBOs), the training focuses on developing effective pitches, planning & strategy, communication, donor engagement, and proposal writing. As part of Smile Foundation’s Empowering Grassroots initiative, this training contributes to the development and capacity building of CBOs through targeted education and match funding, supporting efforts in areas such as education, health, and the environment.
Under Smile Foundation's Child for Child (CFC) programme, workshops on financial literacy, socio-emotional well-being and various other relevant issues are organized for teachers and educators. The workshops are designed to help teachers achieve higher efficiency rates, better understand classroom dynamics, skillfully use emotional expressions to promote learning enjoyment and improve student-teacher relationships and a positive school climate. Focused on sensitising school children towards their social and civic responsibilities from a young age, CFC encourages educators to become active participants in creating a more inclusive society.
The Nutrition Enhancement Program (NEP), a three-year initiative by the PepsiCo Foundation in collaboration with Smile Foundation and the Sangrur District Administration, was successfully concluded. Testament to a successful ‘Unnati ki Sajhedari’ (Partnership of Progress), it positively impacted over 60,000 lives in Sangrur, Punjab. Aligned with the Poshan Abhiyaan, the program focused on improving maternal and child nutrition across 23 villages, benefitting over 16,000 individuals, including pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children aged 0-6 years, and indirectly reached more than 45,000 individuals.
To equip students with a solid foundation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Smile Foundation launched four STEM labs in Mumbai and Thane in collaboration with Evonik India Limited. This initiative is set to empower over 1,000 students, with a particular emphasis on inspiring girls to excel in STEM, fostering a scientific mindset, and encouraging them to pursue careers in these fields. Smile Foundation’s STEM initiative goes beyond traditional education by offering hands-on, experiential learning, cultivating critical skills such as analytical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and more.
Students from Mission Education Centre, Malad visited IIT Bombay, where they gained knowledge about space and technology. They participated in an Astrophotography Workshop, observing realistic images of astronomical objects and a Mars Rover model. In the Tinkering Lab, they learned about power tools, 3D printers, and witnessed an RC flying drone in action. The day concluded with a visit to Shunya House, where they explored the concept of eco-friendly housing and sustainable practices. The visit provided them with a practical understanding of science, technology, and environmental sustainability.
As part of Rashtriya Poshan Maah, a special recipe competition was organized under the Swabhiman program, supported by Children International, at Shahbad Dairy, Delhi. Beneficiaries prepared a "Healthy Bajra Chana Chaat" using nutrient-rich ingredients like bajra and chana, packed with fiber, protein, and essential vitamins. The Swabhiman programme is dedicated to improving nutrition and health in underserved communities. Through activities like this recipe competition, we raise awareness about the importance of nutritious food choices, empowering families—especially mothers and children—to adopt healthier eating habits and lead stronger, healthier lives.
Smile Foundation in collaboration with SBI Card and World Health Organisation, successfully completed a two-day training session for 180 Front Line Workers in Moga, Punjab. CHOs, ANMs, and ASHA Workers from health and wellness centers were trained on Non-Communicable Disease management, focusing on hypertension, diabetes, and three types of cancer. Dr. Neena Bansal, Senior Medical Officer from Dhudike, Moga, presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Smile Foundation, recognizing our contribution to strengthening Health and Wellness Centres in the region.
