Every small action offsets a bigger one; every small step towards change creates bigger ripples of change. As is often said, change is the only constant, and change alone can lead us to an empowered nation.
Today, youth has a big role to play when it comes to contributing to change. Every single point of action is a change-maker in process, and we call these champions #YouthForChange.
In the same spirit, the students of IIT Roorkee are often seen in different parts of the city, volunteering and teaching children in their free time. Going around the city, one would often find them scattered in places, trying to affect change in every minute way possible.
They decided to scale it up by advocating for the cause of education with Thomso, their annual cultural festival. In fact, this fest has also been recognized as the “Annual Youth Festival of Uttarakhand” by the government and is regarded as one of the most culturally rich youth festivals of India.
This year, in an effort to work together towards an educated and empowered India, Smile Foundation has joined hands with IIT Roorkee as the ‘Social Initiative Partner’ for Thomso’17. Our team will be there throughout the course of the festival, that is, from 27th to 29th October raising awareness towards the cause of education- for we all believe in seeing #EveryChildInSchool!
(The 35th edition of Thomso will be organized from Ocober 27 to October 29, 2017 with an approximate footfall of 20,000 students from across the country.
