This Mission Education project provides quality education to the underprivileged children, mainly living in the slum areas of Jammu (Jammu & Kashmir). Majority of the people living in these areas are labourers, who are either the local people of Jammu or migrant workers from states like Bihar, Orissa, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.
The project focuses on the literacy, social and educational development of socio-economically disadvantaged people of nearby areas, by imparting quality education to children. The school’s curriculum is designed in such a way that special emphasis is laid on overall development of the child.
Remedial education is provided in specialized subjects like Science, Health and Environment, for children who are unable to cope with their studies. Besides classroom teaching, exhibitions, fetes, cultural events and outdoor excursions keep the learning process engaging and lively for the children.
Well equipped computer lab and library enhance the learning experience of the children and keep them interested in studies. It also helps them be at par with the standards of the formal education system.
Smile Foundation implements this Mission Education project with Ankur Vidyalaya.
