IndoStar, in its latest project with Smile Foundation, is planning to empower women and adolescent girls in low-income communities. The initiative reaching out to 5,000 community members will be providing useful reproductive health and education services.
Participants will gain valuable knowledge about sexual and reproductive health, including topics like marriage age, family planning, antenatal and postnatal care, safe delivery, regular immunization, and breastfeeding practices. This comprehensive education is designed to improve health outcomes and ensure women and girls are well-informed about their rights and health needs.
Building on this foundation, the project extends its support to 280 women from low-income families through specialised entrepreneurship development training. These women will receive the skills and resources needed to start and manage their own businesses. Additionally, 15 model micro-enterprises will be established, showcasing successful business ventures and providing a blueprint for others to follow.
Beyond individual benefits, the project aims to boost family income and promote the economic participation of women. It raises awareness among stakeholders about the importance of women’s economic involvement, the challenges they face, and their workplace rights. The initiative also strengthens capacity for advocating the economic rights of adolescent girls and women, mobilising domestic resources to support these efforts.
Furthermore, strong linkages with government departments enhance the project’s effectiveness, ensuring sustained support and integration with broader public initiatives.
Through this partnership, IndoStar and Smile Foundation are opening doors to better health and economic opportunities, helping women and girls reach their full potential and succeed in their communities.
