New Delhi, Sep 19 (IANS) Smile Foundation NGO is going to launch the fourth edition of its Smile International Film Festival for Children and Youth (SIFFCY) from December 10-16.
In collaboration with the popular German Schlingel International Film Festival, SIFFCY will focus on German cinema to bring global exposure to the audience.
The fourth edition of the festival will also present films which will talk about social issues like gender equality and education.
Jitendra Mishra, Festival Director, SIFFCY, said in a statement: “This edition is going to treat the audience with recent hand-picked quality films, with assortment of various topics starting from peace, gender equality, environment, family values, friendship, aspirations, dream, self-confidence and importance of education from across the globe.
“We have designed this very special programme by travelling around the world and pushing boundaries, so that we shall bring the best of world cinema for our local children and youth.”
The festival will take place at the Siri Fort Auditorium here.
More than 150 award-winning films from all over the world will be screened in six different categories — International Competition, Yellow Carpet, 70MM Smile, Next Gen, Take One and Country Focus. Various filmmaking workshops will be organised to engage, entertain, educate and empower children and the youth of the country.
Santanu Mishra, Executive Trustee of Smile Foundation and Chairman – SIFFCY, said: “There is an urgent need to sensitise the youth about issues that are affecting our society. Cinema represents much more than just entertainment. It is an engaging alternative, which can be used to capture the imagination and attention of the young, while simultaneously stimulating them to think about personal, societal, moral and world issues.”
