American author Tony Robbins once said – ‘you need either inspiration or desperation.’
The immense task of reaching out to the underserved with ever limited wherewithal, sometimes, makes one desperate. But also many an inspiring act on the part of the civil society, corporate and the government enterprises add sparks to our collective commitment.
The period saw beginning of a long-term partnership with BAE Systems. The sensible and valuable support from BAE Systems will help us mainstream 1000 children in six states, besides gifting 20,000 underserved people with healthcare through Smile on Wheels. There were a few other meaningful supports but the increasing sensibility and appreciation towards need-based and critical development needs are encouraging; sometimes inspiring.
The period saw notable participation and encouragement from all three major participants in the process of development, i.e. the government or public sector enterprise, corporate, and the civil society.
The importance of the civil society’s role has inspired the cover story this issue.
We are hopeful that you would find the stories of change, commitment and participation quite useful reading.
