Bridging Education & Skilling for a future -ready workforce
The future of work demands a skilled workforce ready to adapt to technological shifts and societal needs. With India’s significant youth population, integrating education and skilling is vital to transforming them into an employable, productive workforce. The Government of India’s increased allocation for skilling initiatives in the 2024-25 Union Budget reflects a growing recognition of the need to equip the workforce with relevant competencies. By prioritizing skill development programs like the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and Digital Skilling initiatives and focusing on aligning them with industry needs, these efforts aim to bridge the gap between education and employability.
In May 2023, a 7-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh collapsed from heat exhaustion after playing outdoors during a severe heatwave. During the thick smog in Delhi in November 2023, hospitals reported a sharp rise in respiratory issues, with many of the affected patients being children under 10 years old. In Assam, during the 2024 monsoon season, devastating floods inundated homes, farms, and entire communities.
Maternal and child health is more than a health issue—it is the bedrock of a society’s prosperity and well-being. When mothers thrive, children flourish; when children flourish, communities prosper. Yet, for many women and children, especially in underserved areas, access to quality healthcare remains an aspiration rather than a reality.
