The 18th feather on the cap! The Filmfare Award!
After winning 17 prestigious awards, Smile Foundation’s I am Kalam has won the Filmfare Award for being the Best Story of the year. The acclaims and accomplishments the film has received so far have been primarily because of the cause it propagates – children’s right to education and freedom from illiteracy. The film’s success proves that the cause of children and their education brings together people across the globe irrespective of their age, gender, taste and ethnicity.
This is the 57th year of the awards and is often referred to as Hindi film industry’s equivalent to the Oscars. The award is presented annually by the Times of India Group to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the Hindi film industry. The Filmfare ceremony is one of the oldest and most prominent film events given for Hindi films in India. The awards were first introduced in 1954, the same year as the National Film Awards.
