A non-descript village in a backward and obscure district of Orissa State with majority of people barely managing to make their ends meet . . . Sounds ‘Harsh’ and ‘Exaggerated’?
BUT, this is the real story of village ‘Sirish’ in Dist. Balangir of Orissa where Jan Sevak Sangha, a non-profit providing non-formal education to underprivileged children is located. Raising funds in an area like this appears unbelievable.
However, despite odds, Jan Sevak Sangha organized a ‘Dance Dance’ – DHAMAKA (Explosive entertainer) that brought together not only the people of village Sirish but also people from neighbouring villages to mobilize funds for Jan Sevak Sangha by buying tickets for the show.
500 villagers attended the charity show. Senior district level government officials and local politicians also joined in to express their solidarity with the cause. Going a step further, Smile Foundation pitched in to match up the total funds raised to enhance the impact.
