Tim Unwin, Professor of Geography at Royal Holloway, University of London, took a session on the effective usage of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for development process in a developing country such as India.
Professor Unwin is also holding UNESCO chair of ICT for development and also heads the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission. As part of the training session, staff of Smile Foundation particularly from programming team got to explore the use of ICT in context with social development that proved to be a great learning in the respective work areas.
Professor Unwin also showed interest in Smile Twin e-learning programme (STeP) and later he suggested one of his research scholars to study STeP and conduct his research on the same. In response to the session held Smile Foundation will soon become a member of a collective called ICT4D which will certainly help the Foundation to form alliances with international agencies working in the area of ICT for Development.
