On On 14th June,2013, students from the STeP center Arunodhaya center for street and working children went to Westside store in Chennai.
ThMr. Sayeed, Branch manager welcomed the students and gave an introduction about Tata group and West side and its operational style. He also highlighted on the number of stores across India and their business level. He informed the students on the type of customers who visit the stores and how to interact with them. He also provided information on the management aspect, working condition, recruitment process, personnel policy. what the management looks for in their staff, their recruitment procedure and about marketing. After this the students visited the shop and had practical experience watching how the staff interacted with customers and performed their duties.
After seeing all things they ask question to people working there about shift- time and working environment. At last they come to billing counter saw how they are doing the bar-code machine. The students saw a demo how an item is billed and what a bill looks like and what kind of details are printed on the bill. The students were very happy after visit.
