The Smile on Wheels project has been initiated in Ashoknagar district of Madhya Pradesh. The project, which had been on a trial run since the 13th of August, was formally inaugurated at a ceremony in Kadbaya village.
Smile on Wheels, Ashoknagar, is an intervention project, supported by the Rural Electrification Corporation Limited (REC) and aimed at providing promotive, preventive and curative healthcare services to the underprivileged populace in the district, at their doorstep. Currently, the project is covering 20 villages of the Chanderi block, reaching out to a population of over 25,000.
The Union Minister of State for Power, Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia flagged off the mobile hospital project and handed over the keys to the community people, in a symbolic gesture. More than 5000 people were part of the inauguration ceremony, including senior officials from Smile Foundation and REC.
