Smile Foundation recently organised an exposure visit for the students of Smile Twin e-Learning Programme (STeP) to Britannia’s factory at Lawrence road in Delhi.
The exposure visit to Britannia factory was organised for 35 students from the STeP centres Prerana and ANK respectively on February 13, 2010. The students were accompanied by their STeP centre coordinators.
At the factory the students were welcomed by Factory Manager, Britannia Industries, R K Sinha and 2 another representatives. The Quality Inspector took the students to the round of the factory starting from the store room, where she showed the ingredients used in making bread, which are tested in the lab before start with the process.
Only 16 students at a time were asked to enter the factory for the safety purpose. Representative from Britannia talked about the importance of deliverability and deadlines with STeP students in detail. Relating it to Britannia; as it is an FMCG product keeping in mind its short shelf life, how they ensure that the product is delivered the same very day to the whole sellers and retailers.
Both groups of students keenly observed the operations and asked the Quality Inspector of how they ensure quality, and all the necessary details involved. They all were also given a slice of fresh made bread to taste.
The students were very excited to see the working of the production unit at Britannia factory. Through such exposure visits, the young students of STeP learn and get to explore job opportunities in Hospitality sectors. Also through such visits our students get to do a formal interaction with Corporates.
While returning to their respective STeP centres the students and teachers relished upon the Bun from Britannia.
