The three-day teachers training workshop organised for the teachers of the Smile Foundation-Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL) Non-Formal Education (NFE) centres at Kalinga Nagar, Jajpur, Orissa was inaugurated on September 13, 2009. Mr. Ravi, Director Operations, JSL was the chief guest.
Many teachers from the remedial and NFE centres were present on the first day of the training programme. School inspectors who attended the workshop assured that they would support mainstreaming of the students from the non-formal education centres into formal schools. Students of Gulam Rasul Remedial centre enthralled all with an opening song. Mr Ritesh Gupta, Manager, Administration, Mr. Subodh Mohapatra, AGM, CSR, Mr. Sukanta Ratha, Manager CSR and Mr. Jyotiprakash Nayak, PR officer JSL and representatives from Smile Foundation were among others present on the occasion.
On the second day, the teachers were trained on joyful learning techniques, communication techniques, preparing IEC materials etc.
On the last day of the workshop, the teachers’ trainer discussed about the role and responsibilities of NFE teachers and how to motivate the students to come to school regularly. The teachers were advised to maintain a lesson planning register, visitors diary, students profile, attendance chart, stock register, students standard assessment form, progressive report, guardians meeting resolution register etc.
