Shinnyo-en Scholarship Association, under the aegis of Shinnyo-en Japan, joined hands with Smile Foundation to launch a special scholarship programme for underprivileged children in India in the year 2006.
Director, Edification Department, Shinnyo-en Head Temple in Tokyo, Japan Reverend Shuichi Arai signed the partnership agreement. “We are proud to be associated with Smile Foundation. This is a small step towards our future long term partnerships,” he said.
The initial partnership titled ‘Shinnyo Smile Scholarship Programme’ will be a part of Smile’s ongoing programme Individual Support Programme (ISP) where needy and underprivileged children under four different categories are supported.
Under the partnership, Shinnyo-en has given financial grant towards empowerment of underprivileged children through education.
It has been 11 years of partnership between the two organizations and Smile Foundation appreciates Shinnyo-en for its commitment towards an apt cause in India!
Smile Foundation is a national level development organisation directly benefitting over 400,000 children and their families every year, through more than 200 live welfare projects on education, healthcare, livelihood and women empowerment, in over 950 remote villages and slums across 25 states of India.
